Bowood House sits within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland and has been home to the Lansdowne family since 1754. The Bowood Estate was bought in 1754 by the 1st Earl of Shelburne, his descendants have lived there ever since. Not simply landowners, the Petty-Fitzmaurices have served in public office almost continuously for over 200 years.

Bowood House has a rich history with a wealth of art and antiques on display, and within the numerous Exhibition Rooms are remarkable collections of family heirlooms and works of art built up over 250 years.

PERFECT FAMILY DAY OUT

Perfect for families, the Adventure Playground is one of the most exciting in Wiltshire. It boasts a life-size pirate ship, aerial rope walks, giant slides and the famous Space Dive. There is an indoor Soft Play Palace for younger children and the parkland provides ample space for games and picnics, the perfect location for children to burn off energy. New for 2020 is a new area focusing on fun activities for intrepid under-7s and inquisitive under-4s!

The Treehouse is located at the entrance to the grounds, serving a selection of freshly made meals and delicious homemade cakes.
